Wikipedia Stub Found
I was very lucky for this assignment. I could not think of any article that I have ever really looked for on Wikipedia that I thought I could improve upon. My friend David Saks suggested that I look up our radio station, WUMR, and see if it was represented on the site. I did, and discovered that even though there is a mention of WUMR on Wikipedia, it is only the license stats and one descriptive sentence. I half suspected that a certain instructor, who has extensive radio experience, had set that stub up. In any event, I did start working on it. First I had to learn just what to do. The instructions for editing Wikipedia are very clear. After getting registered and studying the instructions, I used the sample edit. I have now begun to fill in information that is certified as correct from the sources. They are the Memphis State University Desoto Year Book from 1979, interviews with the principals in the creation of the station - like the Dean, Dr. Richard Ranta - and others. I have not yet been edited. I'll report on my progress.
