Wikipedia: Soka Gaiki International

The Soka Gaiki International is a Buddhist organization founded under Nicherin Buddhism. I grew up Buddhist and converted at 18 years old into Christianity. Nicherin Buddhism as well as the general topic of Buddhism are listed as Wikipedia sites, but the organization Soka Gaiki International (SGI) is still available. I think it would be a great way to introduce others to what I knew growing up and help the organization as well. There is a lot of confusion associated with the different sects of Buddhism and the customs associated with each. The Soka Gaiki International has done a lot of projects geared towards World Peace and it's president, Daisoku Ikeda, leads the organization and its members. Buddhism teaches that each person has the ability to affect change by chanting a mantra and centering the universe to their lives. They believe that you affect your environment and there is no diety in Nicherin Buddism. I think this is a great project to do for my Wikipedia project because the thousands of chapters and international groups associated with the SGI can add to and help promote the site.

  1. That sounds really interesting. You will definitely want to post a first draft with links to other relevant Wikipedia pages, to help increase your chances of keeping the page from being deleted.
