Media 2.0 First Thoughts

Tuesday was my first time attending the class, and as a freshman I had no idea what to expect. Once the lesson commenced, I realized these were familiar concepts that I encounter almost daily. As a musician in the metal community, I rely heavily on the internet as a means for promotion. Though we are not on iTunes, we are on YouTube, which has various suggestion algorithms that allow our music to reach wide audiences. We are, musically speaking, a niche in the grand scope of things, and undoubtedly within the long tail, so any means of advertisement is a blessing.

To realize the methodology and the process by which we obtain (and go about searching for) the things we want is much more in depth then buying the bland "Hey this is the only one" object. Due to various outlets, we now have anything we want literally available to us any time we desire. Be it an obscure Behemoth cd or a vintage foregin film, we have access to niche markets, which may ultimately rival the top sellers in the long run.
