Wikipedia: The New Encyclopedia Britannica...well kinda

I can remember days growing up at home doing homework. Whenever there was a word that I did not know I would ask my mom and she would say, "look it up." We had a huge dictionary and also a set of encyclopedias. I would flip threw and look at all the pictures :-0 As an adult,if I don't know a word I do the same thing but now the sources are all different. Instead of a large dictionary/thesaurus and encyclopedias, we have google and wikipedia which are both just a click away. People question the quality of wikipedia simply because we know that is just "regular" people like you and I but from my experiences with wikipedia, I can say that it has always been very accurate. Levinson speaks about this and who determines what is "accurate" but isn't that the same thing that the editors of encyclopedias have done? I love wiki! As a matter of fact I think that in ways it could be more accurate than any trusted site because it is not scholars and possibly average people like you or me. The average person in America is not a scholar and the ratio of scholars to average joes varies tremendously. So who should REALLY write the encyclopedias??? America is a democracy...
