I have decided to to my Wikipedia project on the article about the website CouchSurfing. Its meaning and purpose varies among viewpoints. Fundamentally, it is an organization, website, and social networking tool. The article focuses on the website itself as an organization, how it operates, the concept behind the site and a few reference articles. I hope to find and incorporate social studies that have been revealed about the website and the concept.
I had a hard time choosing what to pick because there are so many interesting articles. I narrowed to CouchSurfing because it is personally relevant as I have used the website to host and surf many times, use it as a social tool, and appreciate the concept behind it. Memphis is a tourist destination and I work in the hospitality industry, so I can also see some similar concepts implemented in different ways.
The CouchSurfing article is not too vague of a concept or idea and not too specific or historical that I don't feel authorized to make any valid changes (or deconstruct lengthy academic resources). It has speculative information, biased positive tone and a history of revisions and controversy over how it is presented. The article needs some editing and revision, and should be interesting to watch the discussion page and do some digging for reputable resources.
Also, I want everyone to at least be aware of this site, and the class blog is a great forum of introduction.
That looks like it will be a great article for this project. Approved!
