Class Conclusion
Today's last lecture summed up what we've learned throughout the semester. The thing I like most about our class was the introduction to the world of technology. I have always been behind the ball when it comes to technology but I feel that this class has really opened my eyes to things I didn't know anything about. in class today we talked about participatory culture. I don't feel that just clicking on the like button would be considered participating because little to no effort is being used, I do feel that those who take time and develop scrips or make films do participate. Collaborative Intelligence was my least favorite because I hate the idea that learning is based on opinion rather than fact. I really did like the fact that for the first time in my college career I was able to use Wikipedia. My favorite topic was pro am. We live in a society were everyone feels they have a gift the problem is that not everyone is professional. I love that we explored how you can be an amateur but still be professional. Over all I enjoyed this semester and am glad that I will be taking so much away from the time spent in this class.

I totally agree with the point you made about being behind in technology. If I'm using something and it works for me, I don't care about what the "newest and hottest" thing on the market is. I also agree about your clicking like comment. Participatory culture is so much more than that. You have to really get involved in something in order to be participating.
ReplyDeleteAlso for my part, this class has had an interesting focus on how we rely on technology (delivery technologies) everyday, while perceiving the actual media content. As both fronts converge, myriads of new forms of communications evolve!
ReplyDeleteI agree. It was fun to not only get to use Wikipedia but be essentially told to use it. That is a real turn around! This class has been a good focus for turning around and reexamining the things we take for granted about the role of media and the internet in our lives. (IMHO)
ReplyDeleteI really liked exploring technology in this class and the simple fact that we really have to use it instead of just learning about it made it all the more better. I think that technology is vastly expanding and we will use it in every profession...might as well be great at it!
