Politics and Internet Convergence

Besides all conveniences and amenities that the internet has brought to all of us in terms of entertainment, its importance is also evinced in the emergence of political grassroots movements, for example in the US. Apart from the question whether we share their goals and points of views, the Tea Party movement, the Anonymous movement, Occupy Wallstreet, and many other political agitators and groups would not have reached their current level of popularity. Being active on blogs, Twitter, Facebook or Youtube, they reach mass audiences and thus manage to increase in size and importance. Without the use of multimedia channels, demonstrations, protests and gatherings around Wall Street or Washington DC would probably end in talk, not in political activism...
